Pioneers since the 1930s
As a pioneer in chemical manufacturing, research and development (R&D) is at the heart of what we do and throughout the decades we’ve cultivated a ‘failure is not an option’ mentality. That’s not to say we don’t face obstacles, but the determination and knowledge embedded in our team helps us to find industry-leading solutions.
Not only do our team of scientists deliver year-round technical support and conduct fluid analysis, but they also actively engage in R&D activities to support a range of industries.
State-of-the-art facilities and equipment
Most recently, we’ve invested in a new, custom-built climatic chamber. It provides increased safety and efficiency in testing deicing and anti-icing fluids and enables the conduction of the Water Spray Endurance Test (WSET) – which we originally pioneered – and the Boundary Layer Displacement Test (BLDT).
WSET is a critical measure of endurance time testing, a feature that deicing and anti-icing fluids must provide for both deicing and maintaining an ice-free aircraft.
The chamber also features a small wind tunnel with a Boeing 737 wing profile. This enables the testing of fluid shear-thinning properties and clean-wing compliance at the critical rotation point of aircraft on take-off. This is measured by the BLDT test.
With the ability to reach and maintain temperatures as low as -40°C (-40°F), the cold room surpasses the current industry standard operating temperature down to -30°C (-22°F), ensuring enhanced quality assurance and safety for our aviation partners.
