Reduce running costs and increase the lifespan of your system

Air conditioning systems frequently use glycol-based loops to regulate the target spaces, such as office buildings, residential homes and hotels. When designing these systems, consideration should be given to both the need to install the equipment and the nature and efficiency of any heat transfer fluids employed.

This is because the fluids have a major impact on the lifespan and running cost of the system, which may need to operate continuously over many years. For example, suitable freeze point and corrosion protection should be incorporated into the product.

We offer two product types to support the air conditioning industry: a water-borne inhibitor and heat transfer fluids. Both are suitable to support air conditioning units and systems, with the ideal solution determined by the operating temperature of the systems.

Kilfrost SF50 Inhibitor

In air conditioning systems that operate at temperatures higher than 5°C, using water as the heat transfer medium is acceptable. Water is corrosive to metallic components, however by adding the Kilfrost SF50 Inhibitor into the water corrosion protection is provided which is tested to and exceeds ASTM D-1384 standard test method for long periods of time.

Building maintenance and upkeep is a continuous job for all businesses and commercial enterprises, so a little bit of assistance to support the lifespan of the equipment goes a long way. Air conditioning systems can use water with an inhibitor pack as the heat transfer fluid to circulate around the system, but what degree of corrosion protection does this provide for your pipes?

Fluids for heating, ventilation and air conditioning

Our range includes advanced low viscosity fluid, but if you require an MEG or MPG fluid for your application take a look at our Cooltrans CT, Cooltrans CTP and Cooltrans CTL heat transfer fluids, which are an optimum choice for HVAC.

Air conditioning fluids

Cooling air conditioning systems, which are operating at a temperature of 5°C or below will benefit by using a heat transfer fluid to prevent freezing.

How Kilfrost fluids compare with others on the market in graph formatKilfrost engineered the advanced low viscosity range with ALV being the product of choice for this application with benefits including reducing costs, extending the lifespan of the equipment as well as being classified as non-hazardous in accordance with CLP/REACH.

As temperatures decrease many fluids can turn sluggish, but Kilfrost ALV remains low in viscosity. This means less pumping power is required to circulate the fluid around the system and due to this hydraulic efficiency, it will in turn reduce the energy usage for your pump, therefore reducing energy costs.

It has been tested and exceeds the ASTM D1384-05 corrosion standard at 88°C, providing outstanding protection for your equipment and pipework.
