Kilfrost’s aircraft deicing fluid has been providing protection from ice and frost for the global aviation markets for more than 90 years.

We are the pioneer and a proud global leader. Our world-renowned R&D team employs on-site cold chambers, wind tunnels, and the very best technical expertise to evaluate, test and create our new products.

Starting from the late 1930s, we created some of the first ever  Type I, Type II, and Type IV ADF aircraft deicers. Since then, we have successfully – and repeatedly – increased the holdover time of our products and the protection they give to customers around the world. We also offer a range of ground deicing fluid for use on runways – to help airports and operators to keep fleet moving even during the ice and snow.

Our ongoing investment in the very latest weather-predicting technology means that we are also able to maintain exceptional levels of supply for our customers in aviation and be responsive to requirements. All of this is why we are the preferred and trusted supplier to most of the world’s leading airports and ground handling crews, as well as executive jet owners, flight schools and private aircraft owners.

In addition to manufacturing and supplying fluids, we offer a sample analysis service.

All testing, which is conducted in our purpose-built laboratory, meets SAE standards. We can conduct tests of tanks, equipment, and storage facilities at the start of the winter season, as well as at your preferred mid-season check point.

Understanding deicing and anti-icing types

Type I deicing fluids are primarily used for deicing and do not offer any significant anti-icing holdover protection. Because of this, Type I fluids are commonly used as part of a two-step deicing and anti-icing procedure. Kilfrost’s Type I fluid is Kilfrost DF Plus.

Type II and type IV deicing and anti-icing fluids are manufactured and qualified to AMS 1428 specifications.

Our Type II fluid is ABC-K Plus, which offers an extended holdover time especially in snow conditions, and our Type IV fluid is ABC-S Plus which offers maximum anti-icing holdover protection but can also be used for deicing purposes.
