We are thrilled to have supported Operation Christmas Box (formerly known as uk4u Thanks!) for another year. This campaign is close to our hearts as it aims to lift the spirits of deployed UK Servicemen and Servicewomen over the Christmas period by sending them gift boxes.
Operation Christmas Box began in 1914 when Princess Mary, daughter of King George V, had the inspired idea to give serving military personnel located overseas and away from their loved ones a piece of home as a Christmas gift, as a way of showing the Nation’s appreciation for all that our Servicemen and women do.
Initially containing a pipe, lighter, 1oz of tobacco and 20 cigarettes, the boxes were received by more than 355,000 in time for Christmas. After 6 years, the fund closed only to be revived again in 2004, with more modern, inclusive and fun gifts, and has since become an annual tradition.
At Kilfrost, we are proud to continue to support the UK Armed Forces with this brilliant initiative, which is backed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). We look forward to spreading the Christmas joy to our military personnel – wherever they are in the world – for many years to come.
