When it comes to deicing solutions, Kilfrost has been a leader for 85 years. That’s why we are confident that, with our solutions, your rail operations can run smoothly.

The challenge

In today’s fast-paced and busy schedules, small delays in rolling stock reaching its intended destination can have major consequences, for passenger and freight operations alike.

Seasonal weather shifts frequently bring cold weather to the UK and Europe, unexpected drops in temperatures now occur throughout the year due to climate change and more northern destinations are constantly being added to rail networks. This results in one of the biggest factors in rolling stock delays and cancellations, frost and snow build up on tracks, stations and on trains themselves.

Not only do cold and freezing temperatures disrupt the trainline, causing fines for the rail industry, but it also affects scheduled line maintenance and passenger safety when boarding and alighting the train. With this in mind, it is essential that we properly manage modern train services to ensure they are being run as efficiently as possible, transporting passengers to their destination and delivering freight with optimum efficiency.
