Kilfrost Rail Plus is our highest-viscosity anti-icing fluid, specifically engineered for use on pantographs and electrified third rails in urban rail and mass transit systems.Frost, snow and freezing precipitation can severely disrupt rail operations – causing poor electrical contact, dangerous arcing and power loss. Kilfrost Rail Plus tackles these challenges head-on with a thickened, high-performance formula that provides long-lasting protection against ice, snow, hail and rain, keeping critical contact points ice-free and fully operational. In addition to its anti-icing power, it also protects metal infrastructure from corrosion and is suitable for use on points and switches.Extensively tested by independent third-party facilities, Kilfrost Rail Plus has consistently outperformed all other commercially available products.Offering reliable performance in temperatures as low as -25°C, Kilfrost Rail Plus helps to ensure trains run safely and uninterrupted through even the harshest winter conditions.
Applying Kilfrost Rail Plus
Third rail anti-icing
Dispense 20-30 millilitres of Kilfrost Rail Plus anti-icing fluid to the rail head per metre. The dispense rate or frequency of application may need to be varied, depending on the severity of the weather conditions.
Pantograph anti-icing
Dispense 50-100 millilitres of Kilfrost Rail Plus anti-icing fluid to pantograph arms to produce an even coating of protection. The dispense rate and frequency of application may need to be increased depending on the severity of the weather conditions.
Points and switches anti-icing
Kilfrost Rail Plus anti-icing fluid is applied to points and switches via spraying. Apply the fluid to the nip between the switch rails and stock rails or to crossing flangeways. Do not apply it to the rail head.
For best results, apply Kilfrost Rail Plus at the onset of ice and snow to act as a preventative measure. Where deicing has already taken place, ensure that the slide chairs are kept adequately lubricated.
Kilfrost Rail Plus is not a lubricant and therefore does not remove, interact with or affect the lubricant.
